6 Ways to Organize your Mitpachot
Ever feel like your mitpachot storage solution is getting out of hand? Mitpachot (headscarves) are one of those things that you just tend to have a million of and those of you who wear them regularly will know what I mean when I say that they are flying all over the place! My original storage plan for mitpachot, tichels, or snoods (a girl’s gotta have options!) has been to kinda just dump them in one of my dresser drawers. This started becoming an issue when my collection got so big that the more I stuffed my drawer, the more scarves were getting snagged, or getting caught between the drawers of the dresser.
So, I set out to find some new ideas. There are so many storage options out there, I had to narrow it down to the best ones that worked for me. Currently, I’m going the drawer divider route, but below you’ll find a few more solutions- I hope one works for you!
Creative Storage Solutions for your Mitpachot
1. Scarf Hanger
The loop scarf hanger method is one of the easiest. It becomes a really pretty displays in the closet. Bonus – it also takes up very little space, even if you need to use two hangers for your collection.
Although I prefer a loop hanger, another great option is a tie hanger– when I used one I found it a little quicker to hang up the headscarf when I’m done with it.
2. Revolving Tie Rack
When I was looking for practical solutions to organize my mitpachot, a friend suggested a revolving tie organizer. I haven’t tried it yet, but if you have a really large collection of mitpachot, this can be a great way to organize them. It will allow for a larger amount to be stored, and you can easily rotate the organizer to see what you’ve got on hand.
3. Drawer Divider
This tip would have been helpful when I was still using my drawer to store my mitpachot. Drawer dividers are awesome. Now that I’ve found them, I use them in nearly every drawer of the house.
I used to use shoe boxes or small baskets, but adjustable dividers take up much less room in the drawer, allowing for more space to be utilized by what actually needs to go in the drawer.
Fold the mitpachot and stand them upright in the drawer. This will be a great way to easily see what you have. Just remember not to over-stuff the drawer.
4. Over the Door Hooks
Organizing your mitpachot by hanging them on over-the-door hooks is a great way to save space. Hang the hooks over your bedroom door or closet door. You will easily be able to see what you have at any given moment, and the display will add a pretty decor element to your room! Win win!
5. Hanging Shoe Organizer
A hanging shoe organizer is another great over-the-door solution to storing your mitpachot. Make sure you get one with clear pouches so you can easily find your favorite!
6. Basket
A basket solution is a nice way to keep your mitpachot in plain sight so you can easily see what you have when you are matching a head covering to your outfit of the day.
I got so excited when I came across a sectional basket! It’s very useful for sorting by color or material. Try rolling the mitpachot and standing them upright in the basket- this will ensure they stay wrinkle-free.
